1. The programme will offer a range of electives drawn from the list below. You must choose two electives on European studies (6 credits each), which currently includes:

 

European Studies

  • GLAS7061 The Atlantic: Columbus to NATO

  • GLAS7077 The EU in a Changing World

  • GLAS7078 World War II and “European Values”

  • GLAS7079 From Postwar to War (and Back)? Central and Eastern Europe from 1945 to Today

  • GLAS7080 Contemporary European Art, Culture, and Society

2. You must choose one additional elective, either from the above list or from the East Asian studies or Global studies lists below:

  • GLAS7041 Making Nation: Media, Culture, and Identity (6 credits)

Every student will be assigned to one of the European languages (French, German, Russian, Spanish) for the 6-credit courses below, with language-specific tutorials in GLAS7021 and GLAS7041.

  • All instruction will be in English (or other languages approved).
     

  • Assessment is 100% coursework, which may include assignments for reading, writing, speaking and listening in the target language, projects, in-class tests, oral presentations, reflective essays, performance in group and whole class discussions, and independent research work.
     

  • Not all elective courses listed will be offered each year.

Students admitted to MAEUS Programme must take Four Compulsory Courses, Three Electives + One Capstone course.
